You’ve got to get up every morning put a smile on your face and show the world All the LOVE in your Heart
The following thoughts were jotted down 3 days after the world lost KYLA…
Kyla was a fan of this poem. I want to read it to you. If you have ever encountered this before, I hope you find it fitting here.
I read of a man who stood to speak
at the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone,
from the beginning…to the end.
and spoke of the following date with tears,
but he said what mattered most of all
was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time
that she spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved her
know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own,
the cars…the house…the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
and how we spend our dash.
So, think about this long and hard.
Are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
that can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough
to consider what’s true and real
and always try to understand
the way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger
and show appreciation more
and love the people in our lives
like we’ve never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect
and more often wear a smile,
remembering that this special dash
might only last a little while.
So, when your eulogy is being read,
with your life’s actions to rehash…
would you be proud of the things they say
about how you spent YOUR dash?

Kyla’s dash is extraordinary. It is filled with stories of the worlds greatest sister, Heidi, with whom she shared everything. Her Mother Laurie passed along her head for business and her Father MONTE is where she acquired her pharmaceutical skills. Tales of TV appearances and over night success’, to dating stories that ended faster than they ever started…Rick Berman never knew what hit him. The Copley dating tour ended with BUZZ. Shortly there after came 3 little men with enough testosterone to make this decked out in pink lady run for her gas mask…( thank you boys)… If you have not heard this story I would love to share it at another time.
The boys were everything to Kyla. And it was obvious SHE was to them. Dillon Coco and Jackson were demanding of her love which she gave COMPLETELY and Unconditionally. Snuggle time was at a premium where she needed to clone herself to fill the required quota.
Her dash was filled with challenges which she faced with courage and hope and relentless fortitude. No, can’t, won’t, were not part of her vocabulary when faced with adversity especially when it was all for the BOYS. Pretty sure she made a deal with GOD to make sure to HELP any single person under any circumstance at any cost to keep her boys happy and healthy. She made good on this promise … ‘NUCKS to GOD” and followed through without batting an eyelash with so many friends…Mostly NEW FRIENDS. She led an extraordinary life from beginning right up to the very very end. Most of all, her dash was filled to the brim with LOVE. The love she accepted was only half of the love she gave.
For 6 years of my LIFE I felt like I was #1 in Kyla’s heart. knowing i was #4 to Dillon, Coco, and Jackson. She was #1 in mine and I always felt like #1 when we were together. I am certain that she made many of you feel the exact same way! #4 to the boys and #1 while you had the pleasure of laughing, crying, and sharing quality time with her.
Never did she EVER fail to offer you her famous swedish pancakes or tell you that she loved you in a greeting or a phone conversation or a card. She had LOVE for everyone that was sincere and endless. She gave generously of her time and anything she had could be yours if you needed it no matter of its Value… if she gave you TIME… its what she valued most. TIME with YOU! When she was with you there was never anywhere else she would rather be…she was yours. I often felt greedy about not wanting to share her with anyone. I wanted her all to myself. Had she not been so generous with her time and love we ALL may have never met.
She adored each and every soul here today and will be remembered forever in stories and experiences for the rest of your life.
